Mary Teresi

Member at Large, Board of Directors

Mary Teresi has worked for SLO County Public Health at Martha’s Place providing case management and family advocacy for children with special needs for the past 4 years. At Martha’s Place she has assisted with the intake process by interviewing families to document background social and medical histories and complete developmental assessments in order to identify children’s and families’ complex needs.  Mary has collaborated with various community agencies to help meet these needs. Mary also served on a committee to improve communication with community partners through the development of educational materials, presentations and ongoing communication methods.

Mary is a Cal Poly graduate with a BS degree in Psychology.  Mary’s senior project at Cal Poly was writing a book about the experiences of families with children with autism on the central coast based on both interviews and research.  Topics included the challenges families of children with autism face, best practice treatment guidelines, what services and supports were currently available, barriers to access of available services, and suggestions for improvements in services on the central coast moving forward.

Mary has an 11-year-old daughter who has autism.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and pug puppy exploring the Central Coast.
